DEATHCULT

DeathCult was a one-man misanthropic black metal band, and the continuation of the Hellish noise project DeathCult666.

The name DeathCult was given in retrospect to the final songs by DeathCult666, when up from October 1999 the music changed from just keyboards and vocals to a one-man band. During these months the Satyricon alike black metal with industrial undertones song They Wanted Us To Burn Eternally was written, which was home-recorded and got mixed March 16, 2000, at M123 studio in Leiden. It was intended for the next compilation cd by New Darkness Recordings (Hillegom, the Netherlands), but by spring 2000 the label was no longer releasing compilations. The recordings still were done as DeathCult666 and remained unreleased.

In April, July and August 2000 new songs were written in a more direct black metal style with misanthropic lyrics instead of satanic themes. In late 2000 nine songs were recorded for a 42 minute full-length entitled Dead Earth Society, still using the name DeathCult666. Not long after the recordings were done the name finally changed to just DeathCult, and in October 2001 (exact date is unknown, but maybe October 12, 2001) the songs were mixed. However, nothing was done with them and plans made in years after 2001 to release some never came to fruition -- with six of the songs remixed on March 18, 2004, for a 27 minute cd remaining unreleased as well.
